Haven

Haven is an Electron + React desktop browser exploring what a browser looks like when it's designed around focus instead of tab count. A one-click “Tidy Canvas” sorts open tabs into AI-classified folders; “Focus Shield” mutes visual noise from tab titles; and a tangent detector catches searches that don't match your current workspace, surfacing them in a floating card that expires on its own instead of forking into another tab. Search results come with a real summary — powered by a small language model (Qwen1.5) running entirely on-device via WASM, no API key or network round-trip.

The Challenge

Most distraction isn't bad websites — it's losing track of why a tab was opened. Tab managers count tabs; they do nothing to protect the intent behind them.

The Solution

Haven classifies tabs into Work/Personal contexts, sorts them into AI-classified folders on one click, mutes visual noise with Focus Shield, and runs a per-workspace tangent detector that catches an off-topic search before it becomes a tab — surfacing it in a floating card that self-expires. Search answers come from a quantised language model running fully on-device through WebAssembly.

Technologies Used

Electron + React

Custom browser chrome built around focus, not tab count.

Qwen1.5 (on-device)

Quantised LLM answers search queries with no cloud calls, ever.

WebAssembly

Runs the language model locally so summaries work with no network dependency.

Tailwind CSS

Styling for Tidy Canvas, Focus Shield and the self-expiring tangent card.
